The Greene County High School boys track team got off to a great start of the 2020 season at the Dickson Relays held at the University of Northern Iowa on March 10.
This will be the only competition for the Rams until mid-April. The State Athletic Associations (boys and girls) have cancelled all practices and meets until after April 10.
Carter Morton brought home the gold medal in the high jump in the unclassed contest. He cleared 6’ 5” to top all comers. Nathan Black jumped 5’ 10” for the Rams, placing 36th.
Colby Kafer flew 21’ 4” in the long jump which was good for sixth place. Morton leapt 20’ 4” to place 14th. Bryce Stalder was 52nd with a jump of 18’ 8”
Morton also placed in the 60 meter hurdles, taking fifth in 8.34 seconds.
Joe Patterson tossed the shot put 39’ 3” for 86th place. Kadrick Kinne was 128th with a throw of 35’ 1”.
Jaxon Warnke put his name in the school record book with a 56.35 mark in the 400 meter dash. He was 71st.
Richard Daugherty sprinted to a 63rd place finish in the 200 meter dash. His time was 24.87 seconds.
The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Luis Velazco, Nate Wailes, Josh Ewalt and Logan Woodruff set an indoor school record. They were clocked in 9:44.52 which was good for 54th place.
The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Nate Black, Bryce Stalder, Jackson Morton and Dan Rivera also set a new indoor school record, crossing the finish line in 1:41.82 to place 52nd.
